The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has cancelled the Kwese Premier Basketball League Conference Final 6 which was scheduled to hold in Lagos and Kaduna from 14-19 August,2017.
In a circular with Ref No : NBBF/KWESE LEA./30/2017/VOL.1/01 sent to all clubs in the Kwese Premier Basketball League and signed by the Secretary General of the NBBF Chimezie Asiegbu the move was made to curb what is seen as evident disregard and disrespect by the outgone board of the NBBF.
As stated in the circular the outgone board is yet to do a proper handing over of the administration of the federation and its programmes to the new board.
“the out gone board was expected to have briefed the NBBF board on the position and status of the competition, however, this has not been done, it is imperative to put the record straight that there is only one NBBF which is in charge of administration of Basketball in Nigeria”.
The circular also forwarned any team that violates the directive given by the Federation as there are sanction to serve as deterrent.
“all teams invited to participate in the final 6 are hereby directed not to honour the invitation without clearance from the Secretary General of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF. Failure to abide by these directives will be met with appropriate sanctions”.
