The Snooker and Pool Players Alliance released it’s 2020 calendar on Wednesday 26th November, 2019 which was published on the Alliance website.
The Alliance continues it’s focus on promoting 8ball Pool and introduces events in snooker. A total of 33 events is been propose for 2020 with major focus at promoting inter-bar/clubs competitions.
Three new events category shall be introduce in 2020; Inter-Bars/clubs 8ball Pool Challenge and the Inter-bar/Club Team Challenge and Players with both attracting cash prizes.
The monthly Inter-Bar/Club 8ball Pool Challenge shall be a ranked event and will run for the first 6-7 months of 2020 and shall feature the highest ranked players in all the affiliate bar/club compete for the prizes. Players are expected to earn ranking points from the event.
The 2020 Inter-Bar/Club 8ball Team which will run in the 3rd quarter of 2020 and will have SPPA affiliate bars/clubs present a team of 5 Players competing in the round robin event.
The monthly Top4 Series is been repackaged as a quarterly event with an increase prize fund of N1Million Naira, N100,000,00 per event for both Snooker and Pool. The events will feature the Top4 highest ranked players in the preceding month on the Cue Sports Management and Players Ranking System
Amongst the others event schedule for 2020 include BOXING DAY POOL AND SNOOKER, LADIES 8BALL POOL TOURNAMENT, INDEPENDENCE DAY 8 BALL POOL TOURNAMENT, OPEN SNOOKER TOURNAMENT, CHILDEN DAY POOL AND SNOOKER EXHIBITION TOURNAMENT, VALENTINE SNOOKER AND POOL COUPLE NITE.
SPPA President, Idada Joachim is enthusiastic about the fortune of snooker and pool in the incoming year.

“We need close to N50 million to run this big project and this can only be achieved with the support of corporate Nigeria who can partner with us by sponsorship or advertising”.
Snooker and Pool are popular sports in Nigeria which has not benefited from the corporate world attention in terms of sponsorship due to non existence of viable structure.
