Birmingham, Alabama is playing host to the sporting world as the 11th edition of the World Games (a.k.a 2022 World Games) holds from the 7th to 18th July. 2022.
The World Games is an 11-day international multi-sport event organized with the support of the International Olympic Committee. The 2022 World Games will showcase a New Generation of Global Sports. An anticipated 3,600 elite athletes from over 100 countries will compete for gold in more than 30 of the fastest growing sports in the world.
Amongst the categories of sports that will feature in this epic global event include Ball Sports, Martial Sports, Precision Sports, Strength Sports and Trend Sports.
Sports under the various categories including Ball sports; Canoe, Fist Ball, Flag Football, Floorball, Handball, Korfball, Lacrosse, Racquetball, Squash and Wheelchair Rugby.
For Trend Sports; Air Sports, Canoe, Duathlon, Finswimming, Flying Disc, lifesaving, Roller Sports, Sport Climbing, Waterski and Wakeboard.
For Artistic Sports; Dance Sport, Gymnastics and Roller Sports.
For Martial Arts; Ju-Jutsu, Karate, kickboxing, Muaythai, Sumo and Wushu
For Strengths Sports; Powerlifting and Tug of War.
Precison Sports will have Archery, Billiards, Boules Sports and Bowling. Billiards will include Snooker, 9 Ball Pool and 3 Cushion Billiards. Egypt’s Bouka Shaheen has been listed amongst the 16 top players that will represent their various countries to feature in the Snooker event.
To comment on Egypt’s participation in the Snooker event of the 2022 World Games and the ABSC’s affiliation to the International Billiards Snooker Federation (IBSF), asentv.tv reached out to Elkamah Mohammed, former president Africa Billiards and Snooker Confederation (ABSC). He noted
“The IBSF organized a tournament in Qatar with 3 countries without approval to qualify for the World Games. Therefore the ABSC AGM decided to pull out of the IBSF”
