The Lagos Marines (an American Football team) of Lagos, Nigeria, embarks on a West African tour of Ghana and Cote de’Ivoire. The tour has been dubbed the “Go West Tour”. The tour starts toady, Sunday, June 11th when the team is scheduled to leave Lagos for the road trip. The tour is expected to include workshops and clinics organized by the team an d coaches of the Lagos Marines and coaches in Accra and Abidjan. The tour will conclude in Abidjan on Sunday, June 18th, with a game between the Lagos Marines and the Riviera Golf Golden Eagles of Abidjan. History will be made, as this is the first ever competitive American Football game between two West African teams (club or country).
The Lagos Marines are an American Football team based in Lagos, Nigeria. The team was founded in 2014 by Dominik Mueller, a former player with over 30 years experience. Mr Mueller is also the Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator.
In 2015, Mr Bimbo Bankole joined the team as the Assistant Coach and Offensive Coordinator. He is a US Army veteran, former player with more than 20 years experience and knowledge of the sport and the studio analyst on football on Wednesday Nite Football, a program on soccer and America football which shows on African SPorts Entertainment and News Network. Together, they have been able to teach and mould a good group of young men and women into disciplined and structured members of the team. They are hoping to create opportunities for the young players that want to learn the sport and be part of what is considered the greatest team sport in North America.
