It was a gathering of the who-is-who in the gaming industry in Nigeria under the aegis of The Association Of Nigerian Bookmakers held the Sports Betting Summit, 20i7 at the Federal Palace Hotal, Victoria Island form the 17th -18th July 2017. Theme: “Unlocking the potential of Sports Betting in Nigeria”.
Participants in the event included representatives of the National lottery Regulatory Commission, Lagos State Lotteries Board, Betting Operators, Supplies and other supporting sectors.
The event which was declared open by Mr Akin Alabi, Chairman, Association of Nigeria Bookmakers had various panel discussions that were focused on critical aspect in the gaming business.
The topics for discussion in the Operator’s session included; 1. Leveraging on innovation and technology to unlock the potential of the sports betting industry in Nigeria and 2. Cyber security and the Nigeria Sports Betting industry.
The regulators and Operates panel discussed “Finding a comprehensive regulatory framework for the sports betting industry in Nigeria”, while the tax panel discussion was “tax issues in the sports betting industry in Nigeria”.
The day 2: The theme of the event took a broader perspective as Inventus International organized the Sports Betting West Africa Summit which brought other industry expert from outside Nigeria to give a global perspective to the discussion. The Nigeria Association of Bookmakers remain a key participant.
Awards were presented to company’s and individuals that have contributed immensely to the growth of the betting industry and Summit. Globalbet recieved the Game Charger Award, Akin Alabi recieved the Sports Betting Prestige Award and the special recognition award was received by Seun Anibaba, CEO Lagos state lottery board.
