Embattled Nigeria Football federation(NFF) President Melvin Amaju Pinnick has been appointed the new CAF 1st Vice President this follows the resignation of Kwesi Nyantakyi who became a subject of corruption that engulfed Ghana Football recently.
In a communique from CAF ,Pinnick was appointed after CAF President Dr.Ahmad Ahmad consulted the members of the emergency committee .
“The CAF President,after consulting with members of the emergency committee have appointed Melvin Amaju Pinnick as CAF 1 st Vice President”
“The decision is immediately applicable, in accordance with article 27 para 2 of the statutes, which will be ratified by the executive committee in their session scheduled for 27 and 28 September 2018” the statement read in part.
Pinnick also doubles up as a CAF Executive committee member and President of the Africa Cup Of Nations(AFCON) organizing committee.
In contrast to his rising profile abroad ,at home the football administrator’s led board was sacked by the Sport Minister Solomon Dalung some days ago after he claimed his action was as a result of an advise from the Attorney General of the Federation concerning the leadership dispute of the football federation which a court has made a pronouncement declaring the Pinnick led board illegal.
