Qinhuangdao Joy Billiards Sports Promotion Co Ltd in China is putting finishing touches to it’s launch in Nigeria ; a market which meets the company’s aspiration of getting young people who make up a larger percentage of Nigeria’s population to play the Chinese 8-Ball Pool.
“As soon as life get back to normal , we shall be in Nigeria for the ground breaking tournament which will be organised in collaboration with our partner ” Tony Zhang , the General Manager, Joy Billiards said.
President of Snooker and Pool Players Alliance of Nigeria (SPPA) Joachim Idada had made frantic effort to see Nigeria participate in the International Chinese Eight -Ball Association (ICEA) World Cup in South Africa a year ago even without the official admission of Nigeria into the circuit but the Corona Virus outbreak caused an indefinite postponement of the event, a blessing in disguise for Nigeria to benefit in Joy Billiards expansion programme which berths in the most populous black nation.
“As soon as we learn’t there was a World Cup of 8-Ball happening on the continent we reached out to the organisers and they were excited to have us around even though we were not affiliate but that gave us the opportunity to make a move for an enduring partnership” Idada said.
“We just want to promote this Chinese game all over the world especially Nigeria” Zhang who couldn’t hold his excitement.
” The game is big in South Africa because of the way we promote it with our partners ,it is special and that is why we want Nigeria on board”.
Nigeria is joining three other countries; South Africa, Kenya and Uganda for the inaugural African Tour which is expected to hold as soon as there an all clear for global and continental events.

“As soon as government allow travelling between countries again we begin our tours around four continents with Africa as one of the continents, the prize money is attractive as we have about $20,000 on offer” Zhang confirmed.
As part of its Nigeria programmes , four different tournament targeted at young people who are the future of the game will be organised annually with prizes between $15,000 – $20,000 on offer.
Joy Billiard has over 40 partners globally and its products are used in over 50 countries and its one of the major partners ICEA which is an affiliate of the World Pool Association (WPA) .
It would be recalled that a ground-breaking agreement midwifed by FIJI Ventures Ltd a Nigeria based company will see the Snooker and Pool Players Alliance of Nigeria (SPPA) organize Chinese 8- Ball pool tournaments in Nigeria from 2021.
The Chinese 8-Ball pool is a version of cue sports popular in China and gaining acceptance globally through the Joy Billiards sponsored 8-Ball pool World Championship which is an annual event organized by the International Chinese Eight –Ball Association (ICEA) with over 50 countries participating.
