Organisers of the Nigeria Pitch Awards which is set to be hosted in Lagos for the first time have made it known that they are not threatened by competition from other stakeholders who are also in the business of organising awards.
President of Matchmakers Consult the organisers of the football awards Mr Shina Philips while responding to questions from Journalists during the unveiling of the 2017/2018 Nominees in Lagos said they welcome competition from like minds.
“We are not averse to competition because it is not about us,it is about what we set out to achieve through the process of transparency and professionalism we have put in place,the more the merrier,the sky is wide enough for the birds to fly”.
“Nigeria Pitch Awards has its own identity,nomination is done by a college of voters who are veteran sports journalist,analysts and administrators from all over the country,while collation is done by our partners SIAO an international audit and assurance company”
In the same vein,the Managing Partner of SIAO, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo assured football fans that the award will remain untainted
“We are confident that the wishes of Nigerians have been captured in this nomination process” he said.
Victor Moses of Chelsea FC,John Mikel Obi of Tianjin TEDA,Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City FC and Rasheedat Ajibade of FC Robo top the list of nominees in this years ceremony which will hold in the centre of excellence at a date to be announced later.
