Snooker Opens: Victor Ukueku records highest break

Ukueku Victor lost to Kayode Oluwole despite recording a 55 points break which remains the highest in the ongoing Snooker Open Classic; “Balls, Sticks, Holes and holes II” holding at the Snooker and Billiards section of the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja that starting on Friday 24th May, 2019. Unfortunately, we had not recorded any century at the time of filing this report.

To get the quarters kayode Oluwole beat Olu Fagbemi in a keenly contested match that ended 2 – 1 and a narrow margin of 43 – 42 in the third frame. Emeka lost 2 -0 to smallish Waliu Nojeem, winner of the 1st Robinson Snooker Open Classic. This is a reminder to the other contestants that he is the man to beat.

Oluwole Akintola who lost to Waliu Nojeem in the semi finals at the 1st Femi Robinson Snooker Opens, has one eye on the trophy and prize money when he played a well contested match at Edward Fatona that ended 2 – 1 in his favour. He spoke about the Open format with cuesports before the tournament

“I think it an absolute wonderful idea. The fact that it is open make it free for anyone who is absolutely talented to come and participate. And though, that means we can see people that are talented and grommed into playing better”

James Ebo was no match to the tactical ability having lost 0 – 2 to Daffe Agbah who is known to be one of the only two players in Nigeria that have played snooker abroad.

The match between Wole Robinson and Femi Akinlade should be described as “the Match of executives”. Akinlade who is the current vice chairman of the section beat Wole Robinson, section chairman 2 – 0

The Snooker Open Classics is amongst the many tournaments been introduced to promote the game in Nigeria. The Snooker and Pool Players Alliance is currently undertaking to implement a ranking system that will create an viable structure for the development of cuesports so as to revamp the moribund Billiards and Snooker Association of Nigeria .

And, Snooker has been scheduled to be one of the sports that will feature in the All African Games holding in Morocco in August.
