Snooker: WPBSA release draws for Shangai Masters


The World Pool Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA), organizers of the Shangai Masters has released the draws for the 2018 edition of the 725,000.00 (Seven hundred and twenty thousand) pounds prize fund event event holding at the Regal International East Asia Hotel, Shangai, China from September 10 to 16, 2018.

The event was introduced in the 2007/2008 season as a ranked event of the WPBSA and was the second ranking event to be held in China. The 2018 event is the will be a non-ranked event.

Until 2016, an extra wildcard round was included before the first round proper, featuring eight players. Starting in 2018, the tournament is a 24-man invitation event featuring the world’s top 16 and 8 more Chinese acting as the wildcards.

Amongst the top ranked players drawn to feature from the second round include former world champions Ronnie o’ Sullivan, Mark Williams, John Higgins and Mark Selby. Others include world snooker championship finalists, Shaun Murphy, Barry Hawkins, Judd Trump and Ding Junhui 2016 runner up.

Players drawn to play in the first round of the include Neil Robertson, Stuart Bingham, Kyren Wilson Ryan Day, Luca Brecel Zhou Yuelong, Xiao Guidong , Anthony McGill and Yaw Bingtao.
