It was a period of excitement as Heyball (a.k.a Chinese 8 Ball Pool) fans and enthusiast gathered in Fourteen75 Pool Arena, Akure to watch the various winners and second placed players of the regional qualifiers compete in the Nigeria Qualifiers’ that ran from the 6th to 8th July, 2024 to select the winner for the sole ticket for Joy Heyball Masters Tour 11 holding in the City of Bayannur, China from Jul 25th to August 15th, 2024
Bamidele Shehu emerged the winner of the Joy Heyball Masters Tour II Nigeria Qualifiers Playoff’s after earning the max 6pts in the 7 players round robin event Babatunde Rasheed with 3 pts and third
The event which featured the 7 players from the 2 Regional Qualifiers’ and Lagos included Bamidele Shehu, winner of the Lagos qualifier and former winner of the 2023 Joyball Masters Masters Tour II Nigeria Qualifiers, Babatunde Rasheed, 1st Runner up in the Lagos qualifying event and 2024 Joy Heyball Masters’ Grand Finals Nigeria Qualifiers.
Other participants included David Faremi, Adebayo Oluwole and Akanni Samuel from the South-West Regional Qualifiers, Emeka Joseph from the South-South Regional Qualifiers, Adekunle Adebayo who participated in the recently concluded 2024 Joy Heyball Masters Tour I Div One and Super which held from May 25th to Jun 15th in the City of Changchun, China received automatic qualification. as a wild card to fill that 7th slot.
Representating the Ondo State Governor, the Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Saka Yusuf Ogunleye visited the event in his quest to promote Youths and Sports activities in the State who watched the clash match between BABATUNDE RASHEED (a.k.a.TATAN) and BAMIDELE SHEHU both from Lagos.
Address to the participant and fans, he said
“Sports is big business all over the world and has the capacity to change life. The SPPA president did emphasize this in his address that the event is to take players to China which offer players the opportunity to earn good money. For the state, we are willing to partner with the SPPA to ensure that this is introduce to the Sports Council so that we can introduce this all over the state.”
