Current female National Champion, Deborah Qucikpen has received her FIDE Candidate Master Title (WCM) from the World Chess Federation (a.k.a FIDE) in recognition of her Elo Rating which certifies has chess playing skills under a competitive level.
Deborah, a Bayelsa State players and Youth Ambassador, current female national Champion, multiple National Sports Festival and Youth Games Gold medalist announced the recognition in a post on her facebook page where she acknowledged and expressed her appreciation to people and institutions that played a role in her chess career.
“ Looking at this I can say the journey continues and we’re in the right path. This is another level inspiration as I prepare for the Chess Olympiad in Hungary which is just days away. I’ll continue to give my best no matter how challenging it might be. “
“I want to express my appreciation to everyone who has been in this journey with me.

Deborah will be attempting to break the record set by other past young Nigerian female chess protégées like Lola Alabi and Oluwatobi Oloruntola (Nee Olatunji) who attained the WFM title during their playing career.
