Shaun Murphy withdrawn from this week’s Shanghai Masters on for personal reasons on Monday.

With his baby daughter ill in hospital, Shaun made the decision to pull out of the tournament to stay with his family. He sends his sincere apologies to the fans, promoter and sponsors in Shanghai.

Shaun Murphy was due to play against Stuart Bingham in the second round. Stuart Bingham beat Fan Zhengyi 6 – 0 in the f won his first round match against Fan Zhengyi 6-0. Bingham will now receive a bye to the quarter-finals.

Shaun Peter Murphy is an English professional snooker player, who won the 2005 World ChampionshipNicknamed “The Magician”, Murphy is noted for his straight cue action and his long potting.

Murphy has won over £3 million in prize money and has compiled more than 400 century breaks in his professional career. His highest world ranking was number three, which he maintained for three seasons following 2007/2008.

On 12 November 2017, Murphy won the Champion of Champions title beating Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final
